Why is Mohatta Palace said to be haunted?

Mohatta Palace was built in 1927 as a lavish seaside summer home for Shivratan Mohatta, a Hindu businessman from Rajasthan, its pink Jodhpur sandstone and Rajasthani-style domes standing out amid Karachi's Clifton district. Mohatta enjoyed the house barely two decades before the 1947 Partition forced him to leave for India, abandoning the palace along with millions of other refugees crossing the new border in both directions. The Pakistani government later used the building as offices for the Foreign Ministry before it became, from the 1960s until her death in 1967, the residence of Fatima Jinnah, sister of the country's founder and a leading opposition figure whose passing remains clouded by unresolved questions to this day. Caretakers who worked at the palace during its long years as a closed government property described an unease in its upper rooms, and since it reopened as a museum in 1999, some visitors report a fleeting sense of being followed through its inner courtyards.
