LOCATION
Why is Cinnamon Hill said to be haunted?
Cinnamon Hill is a Georgian great house on a former sugar plantation in St James Parish, Jamaica, overlooking the Caribbean sea near Rose Hall. Construction began under Samuel Barrett Jr., who bought the Cornwall estate, and was finished by his son Edward Barrett in 1784. The property is said to be haunted by the "White Witch," a figure tied to legends of cruelty and death associated with plantation-era great houses on this stretch of coast, with reports of a pale, robed apparition seen moving through the grounds at night. Musician Johnny Cash later bought Cinnamon Hill in 1972 and lived there until his death in 2003, reportedly unfazed by its ghostly reputation.
