LOCATION
Why is Longos Mansion said to be haunted?
Built in 1926 for textile magnate Grigorios Longos, this Neo-Byzantine red-brick mansion earned its dark reputation almost immediately. Within months of completion, the construction firm went bankrupt and Longos' factory in Naousa burned down. The family's fortune collapsed by 1939, forcing them to abandon a house they had barely lived in. Locals began whispering about suicides inside its empty rooms, and some claimed vampiric spirits β described in old Thessaloniki dialect as beings living 'close to the earth' β haunted the corridors, with disembodied voices and figures reported at the windows for decades. The mansion stood empty for over 70 years before businessman Ivan Savvidis bought it in 2014, but its nickname among locals, 'the house of ghosts,' has outlived every renovation.
