Firmat

In June 2007, residents of a small park in Firmat, in Argentina's Santa Fe province, reported one swing on the children's playground moving back and forth on its own for ten straight days, while every other swing beside it stayed still. Locals dubbed it 'El Columpio Fantasma,' the Haunted Swing, and the case reached local police before word spread nationwide. According to the story that grew around it, a young child died on the site years earlier, back when it was still a construction lot, and is said to have found lasting happiness on that particular swing — refusing to let it stop. The phenomenon drew enough attention that in 2011 the Syfy Channel show 'Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files' sent a crew to investigate; they managed to replicate a similar motion using monofilament fishing line, but concluded the original event did not match the signs of a deliberate hoax. The swing remains a minor pilgrimage site for visitors to this day.
