In the Patagonian city of Cinco Saltos, in Argentina's Río Negro province, the local cemetery holds one of the region's most visited graves: that of Pierina Farjat, a young woman who died in the 1930s. According to local tradition, mourners began leaving small offerings, toys, and handwritten notes at her tomb after reports that prayers made there were answered, and some visitors have claimed to hear a child's crying near the plot at night.
