Erasmus Castle, known locally as "Die Spookhuis" — the haunted house — is a large mansion built on a hill in the Erasmuskloof suburb of Pretoria, South Africa, by original owner George Dean Erasmus. Now privately held by state-owned defense company Armscor, the empty residence can still be toured or booked for events. Neighbors and visitors report lights burning in windows of the supposedly unoccupied house, sightings connected to Erasmus himself wandering the grounds, and moaning heard from inside the walls after dark.
