¿Qué es Pie Grande (Sasquatch)?

Pie Grande, también llamado Sasquatch, es un humanoide gigantesco cubierto de pelo, de aspecto simiesco, que supuestamente vaga por los densos bosques del Pacífico Noroeste de Estados Unidos y otras zonas boscosas de Norteamérica, con una altura muy superior a los dos metros y unas huellas descomunales que le dieron su nombre. La leyenda bebe de tradiciones orales centenarias de pueblos indígenas de toda Norteamérica, que hablaban de seres peludos y salvajes en el bosque mucho antes de la llegada de los colonos europeos, y se fusionó con relatos pioneros sobre "hombres salvajes" en los bosques. Pie Grande se convirtió en un fenómeno nacional tras el hallazgo de huellas enormes en el norte de California en 1958, pero su momento decisivo llegó en 1967 en Bluff Creek, cuando Roger Patterson y Bob Gimlin filmaron a una figura oscura y bípeda cruzando un cauce, una grabación que sigue debatiéndose hoy. Los escépticos sostienen que el filme muestra a una persona disfrazada y atribuyen la mayoría de avistamientos a osos, animales mal identificados y huellas fabricadas, sin que jamás haya aparecido un hueso, un cuerpo ni una foto concluyente. Pie Grande sigue siendo un icono central del folclore y la cultura popular estadounidense.
