Why is Kenmore Asylum said to be haunted?
Kenmore Asylum, later known as Kenmore Hospital, is a heritage-listed former psychiatric institution in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia. Built between 1894 and 1895, it was designed to house up to 700 patients. In 1941 the Australian Army took over the site as a military hospital, and returning patients were transferred to institutions in Sydney; the Department of Health regained control in 1946. Left derelict after changing hands in 2003 and 2010, the sprawling complex has been described as one of Australia's "most haunted locations," a reputation built on decades of reported sightings and unease among staff and visitors during its century of institutional use.
