Why is Ringlestone Inn said to be haunted?

Built in 1533 during the reign of Henry VIII, the Ringlestone Inn near Wormshill in Kent still stands on its original brick-and-flint foundations, its beamed interior barely altered since around 1732. Local legend holds that the inn once served as a refuge during a plague outbreak, and that a nun who died there of the disease was buried secretly in an unmarked field grave rather than a churchyard; her ghost, dressed in grey, is said to have been glimpsed drifting near the old orchard and inside the building on quiet evenings. Staff and regulars have also reported glasses moving unaided and sudden cold drafts near the fireplace, phenomena the inn has leaned into as part of its centuries-old character.
