Why is Plas Teg said to be haunted?
Built around 1610 for Sir John Trevor, Plas Teg is considered one of the finest Jacobean houses in Wales — and one of its most haunted. The best-known story centres on a "Lady in Grey," often identified with a Trevor family member said to have died under suspicious or violent circumstances within the house, whose figure has reportedly been seen crossing the long gallery and upper landings for generations. Owners and visitors since the house passed out of the Trevor family have also described a mummified cat found sealed in the walls — a common folk charm against evil once used across Britain — along with unexplained cold spots, disembodied voices, and objects displaced overnight. Paranormal investigation groups have run overnight vigils at Plas Teg since the 1990s, drawn by its consistent reputation among Welsh haunted houses.
