LOCATION
Why is Market Street Cinema said to be haunted?
Market Street Cinema was a historic theater on Market Street in San Francisco's Mid-Market district, opened in 1912 by David and Sid Grauman as the Imperial Theater before later operating as the Premiere Theatre and United Artists Theatre. It hosted the 1971 benefit world premiere of "Dirty Harry," then from 1972 operated for decades as an adult entertainment venue under producer Mike Weldon. Demolished in July 2016 after city approval to replace it with an eight-story building, the theater had built a reputation as haunted, featuring in a 2013 episode of "Ghost Adventures" (season 7) and serving as a filming location for the low-budget horror film "G-String Horror."
