Why is Glen Tavern Inn said to be haunted?

The Glen Tavern Inn opened in Santa Paula, California in 1911 and quickly became a stop for silent-film crews shooting westerns in the surrounding Santa Clara River Valley, a history staff say explains its most cited haunting. Room 307 is known among guests as the "Actor's Room," tied to a stuntman or performer said to have died on the property during a film shoot in the 1910s or 1920s; visitors report the sensation of being watched and a bathroom door that swings shut on its own. During Prohibition the basement ran as a speakeasy, and some staff attribute footsteps and muffled voices heard in the empty lower level after midnight to a bootlegger killed there. The inn has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984.
