Why is Huntingdon College said to be haunted?
Huntingdon College, a Methodist liberal arts school in Montgomery, Alabama, traces its origins to 1854 and moved to its current campus in 1909. Generations of students at Pratt Hall, one of the original dormitories, have told the story of "Red Martha" (or simply "Martha"), a student said to have died in the building decades ago, in some versions by falling and in others by suicide, after a broken engagement or lost love. Residents have long reported unexplained knocking, doors opening on their own, and cold spots on the dormitory's upper floor, and campus tradition holds that a room once associated with her death was permanently sealed off and removed from the housing rotation.
