Why is Harvard Exit Theatre said to be haunted?
The Harvard Exit Theatre was a cinema on Seattle's Capitol Hill, housed in a 1925 building constructed for the Woman's Century Club, which still meets in its unaltered lobby monthly. The space was converted into a movie theater by Jim Osteen and Art Bernstein, opening to the public on May 20, 1969. Starting in the 1970s, staff and patrons began reporting sightings of a woman in 1920s-style clothing moving silently through the building, along with unexplained cold spots and footsteps in empty rooms β a presence some linked to the Club's early members. The sightings were widely enough known that the theater was regularly listed among Seattle's most haunted buildings, though reports stopped being noted after 1987. The cinema closed in 2015 when the building was sold for conversion to offices.
