LOCATION
Why is Hotel del Coronado said to be haunted?
The Hotel del Coronado opened its Victorian beachfront halls near San Diego in 1888, and four years later became the site of the resort's most enduring legend. Kate Morgan, a young woman traveling under a false name, checked in alone in November 1892 and was found dead five days later on an exterior staircase from a gunshot wound, ruled a suicide amid rumors she had been abandoned by a lover. Staff and guests in Room 3327, informally called the "Kate Morgan Room," have long reported flickering lights, a television that turns itself on, and cold drafts with no open window. The hotel commissioned independent research in the 1990s that identified Morgan's real name and confirmed parts of her story.
