Why is Jefferson Davis Hospital said to be haunted?
Jefferson Davis Hospital operated from 1924 to 1989 as Houston, Texas's first centralized municipal hospital for indigent patients, in the city's Historic First Ward; it is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and houses the Elder Street Artists Lofts. Before the hospital was built, the same lot served as Houston's municipal cemetery from 1840 into the 1890s, the burial ground for thousands of Confederate soldiers, former slaves, and city officials before falling into decay and being repurposed.
